If you’re driving to Mount Dora on U.S. Highway 441, you’ll begin to see the city’s character through flower shops and restaurants. Mount Dora Brewing also lies on the path into town, so stop by if beer brewed on-site peaks your interest. With all the Lake County city has to offer, you could consider it a vacation tucked away in our very own Central Florida area.

The place some have deemed “The Festival City” is bubbling with personality, and a trip to the town will not disappoint. Each small business offers special goods and services to enhance your time spent in the city. There’s plenty of boutiques, art, and decor to keep you entertained. As your interest in perusing the shops grows, maybe you can’t resist Temptations. This miscellaneous gift shop features uncommon art and unique finds.

However, husbands who get tired of shopping can be directed to the “husbands bench” outside Every Nook + Cranny. Don’t miss out on the wonder in this shop. Venture in and see how each room connects throughout this wacky, intriguing store. There’s a room for everyone — filled with comics, records, pottery, or art. You can also leave your mark inside. Grab one of their bright-colored markers and write a message on the black walls brought to life by each person who passed through.

You can also visit the Modernism Museum, where a collection from David Bowie is on exhibit until October 2018. Across the street is the museum shop and the award-winning restaurant 1921 by Norman Van Aken.

If you need a break for lunch, there is also a wide range of restaurants that will appeal to every visitor — Greek, Italian, and, just a bit off the main strip, Amish.

If you have a craving for fish and chips, head to the Magical Meat Boutique, a British pub decked out with a vintage blue subway bus and bright red telephone booth — perfect for fun photos while you’re waiting for your food. They even offer a doggie menu for your furry friends.

For anyone with a sweet tooth, you can enjoy a latte and a cupcake from Cupcake Delights or some fudge and gelato from Mount Dora Confectionary.

After eating, check out lawn bowling at the Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club. Played on a bowling green, the game involves rolling bowls as close as possible to a smaller ball called a jack or a kitty. The club is along the path to Lake Dora, so you can make your way down to the waterside to relax and enjoy the view.

With all of Mount Dora’s quirks and entertainment, a trip to this city will be one you don’t want to miss.
