A wonderful surprise was given to Principal Wendy Ivory when she heard the news that The Children’s Home Society received a $200,000 grant through the Bank of America Neighborhood Builder Award for Community Partnership Schools. OCPS Academic Center for Excellence, A Community Partnership School, decided to use the funds to launch Homework Café. Homework Café is a monthly event that focuses on building the home-school-community partnership. Each month, families look forward to participating in fun academic activities that closely align with the Florida standards. Students can also receive help with classwork and homework while learning new information in the areas of math, science, language arts, digital learning and social-emotional skills. Homework Café is held in the OCPS Academic Center for Excellence Cafetorium every fourth Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Dinner is provided to families who participate.
