The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and Christopher Barton are parting ways. Barton served as executive director of the Philharmonic since August of 2016 and resigned late this March.
The search for a new executive director will begin within the next couple of months, according to Cristina Venturini, the associate director of marketing and communications for the Philharmonic. Venturini also said that a new executive director will be announced toward the end of 2019 or in early 2020.
In the meantime, Dr. Mary Palmer and Mark Fischer will serve as co-executive directors. Fischer has been with the Philharmonic in various positions for more than 25 years. Palmer is the president of the Philharmonic’s board of directors.
